Current Meeting Minutes:
January 30, 2012
Minutes
The
meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. In attendance were Barbara
Simpson, Jean Huffstickler, Bill Marple (by telephone), Chris Tresten,
Sharon Moritz, Sandy Currier and Cherryl Young.
Financials:
Jean started the meeting with a quick recap of the financials for the
December 2011 Holiday Show. There was an encouraging profit of $7,000
plus . The increase was contributed to more horses, more academy
riders, and continued control of expenses.
Pin Oak Academy Class sponsorship:
TASHA gave $200 last year for 2 classes. The Board voted to approve
spending $375 this year for sponsorship of 3 academy classes.
The
board discussed and agreed to pay cost for Texas High Point
tabulation for the Pin Oak Horse Show, in addition to the cost charged
for the 2 TASHA shows. The price is approximately $50 per show.
Tabulations are made by Janie Hamilton.
TASHA High Point Awards:
The question was raised to continue to have an award social hour for
TASHA High Point in Houston on the “off” award banquet year or to give
TASHA High Point awards at the Award Banquet no matter who is hosting
the ceremony. The board voted to have the awards presented at SASHA
this year. This matter will be revisited for future banquets. Due to a
lack of a volunteer for TASHA high point tabulation, Janie
Hamilton is being paid to tabulate the points for the 2010-2011 high
point awards year.
Save The Date Cards:
NTASHA does a wonderful job with the Save the Date Cards that are sent
to the clubs’ membership at the beginning of each year. The three clubs
share the expense of covering the cost for each of its local shows.
The board voted that TASHA will provide for the cost of the two TASHA
shows and Pin Oak. The cost to TASHA this year was $59.07.
Charter Club Basket for
ASHA Youth Auction:
Bill will connect Chris and Germaine Johnson to make arrangements to
collect and present a basket for the Auction from TASHA.
The new TASHA Spring
Show: Since
general use of the name of this show has been the TASHA Spring Show,
we will continue using this as its official name.
Tenative Program outline
for the show will be as follows: Clinic and dinner to be held Friday
night.; Saturday 10 a.m. first session of show, break in the afternoon
for anticipated high temperatures and continue with Saturday evening
classes starting at 7 p.m.; Sunday will start at 9 a.m. with a one hour
break as soon as morning classes are finished with the goal of show
ending in early afternoon. Clinic attire for participants will be neat
lesson attire with tucked in shirts, lesson jods and neat hair. Horses
tails can be kept tied up. Hoofs do not need to be polished.
Sponsorship
of the show evoked great
discussion and many ideas. Cherryl and Sharon will be in charge of
sponsorships for the spring show. A Paddock club for refreshments and
socializing will be available for exhibitors, sponsors and family.
Discussion ensued regarding a possible sponsor for a wine tasting and
presentation Saturday evening. Possibility of Show Sponsorship by a
Hyundai Dealership, with several of their higher end cars for viewing
was discussed.
Judges
for the clinic and show were discussed. Jo Cornell was mentioned as a
possible candidate. Sandy suggested that she should poll all the
trainers to get at least three names for the clinic/judge. All agreed.
Open discussion:
Meeting dates for the next two TASHA Board meetings were decided. The
dates are Monday, February 13th and Tuesday, February 28th.
Barbara will contact GSWEC to see if TASHA can get the mailing list for
Susie Blackwell’s open shows in an effort to increase show and clinic
attendance since there are some saddlebred owners that attend the open
show and enjoy it. Further discussion will be required on accommodating
those riders with open classes in our normal schedule. A Jimmy Buffet
theme was suggested for the show. Bill Marple complimented the board
and volunteers on a successful and enjoyable December show. All thanked
Chris for hosting the meeting and providing snacks.
Meeting adjourned.
